Well, my ANS is doing very well.. it's running in production being a mail
server for several domains, a DNS server for a dozen or so domains, and
running an SMB authenticated squid web cache for a hand full of users..
it's been quite stable with a few strange isolated problems mostly related
to development (gcc not failing on missing symbols, occasional porting
problems, etc) and would probably have been online since I installed it if
I wasn't always installing the latest greatest kernels off of vger. I
haven't had any crashes, and there's only two problems that I have with
it:
- the console doesn't work anymore (some kind of frame buffer problem)
- TCP oddities with non-listening ports
but neither of these prevent it from doing what it needs to do..

Your old instructions worked pretty well for me, the key part being
leaving the system unplugged and the battery out over night.. and the
dusers installers never worked for me (I used the dodds.net installer I
think)

I did have _ALOT_ of installation problems that were very verbosely
documented here (is there an archive anywhere??) but that is all well
behind me now.
