Indeed, the ROMs are on the motherboard and not the CPU... That is precidely
the problem ;) If the ROMs swapped with the CPU card we might be able to run
a REAL os easily on these beasts ;)
In fact, I have been told by apple that the ANS CPU Card will work in a 9500
but that doesn't mean that the ANS ROMs will support _other_ CPU Cards than
those made specifically for it. That is, there may be certain CPU handling
information in the ROMs that would be non-functional or downright goofy with
a G3 or other upgrade. Someone, if they were so inclined to waste some time
could possibly try pestering Apple.
