Hiya. I have an opportunity to get an ANS 500, and I was wondering just
how far along is LinuxPPC support. I saw the pages at www.linuxppc.org/ans
which indicated the it could boot and do some other things, but it was
kinda vauge.
In particular, I'd want to be able to do the following:
- Use the internal and external SCSI busses
- Hook up a modem for PPP access (dialing out to my ISP)
- Hook it to my PowerMac 8500 via ethernet
- Run netatalk or some other AppleShare compatible service
- Run the standard server apps (ftp, apache, etc).
So, do these things work yet (and thus it would be worth my while to get
the machine), or am I better off just getting a normal (used non-ANS) Mac?
Thanks,
Dave
