ANS LinuxPPC misc problems

I finally got LinuxPPC running fine on my ANS, though it's still on
an external drive (I haven't had the guts or the time to try putting
the drive inside. :) But I'm having a couple of problems with the
install. They probably aren't ANS related, but since I have nowhere
else to ask the questions, I'm going to ask them here anyway. :)
(Yes, I *could* subscribe to a LinuxPPC list, but since one of them
involves me not being able to get my email, I'm having enough trouble
already without being spammed by 50 messages a day...)

1) There is apparently a POP3 server built into the inetd... yes?
No? If so, it's sure not working for me. /etc/inetd.conf lists
POP2, POP3, and IMAP services, but when I try to connect, nothing
happens. Anyone know why this would be? Am I just stupid and reading
the /etc/inetd.conf wrong?

2) I tried to install Appleshare support. I failed, apparently. I
followed the instructions at http://www.biap.com/Linux/asip.html to
the letter, and then did the 'test' and got the following error:

/etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S91atalk: /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S91atalk: line 84: syntax
error: unexpected end of file

(with no line break, of course.) Anyone have a clue?

Thanks,

Adam Lang
