Is fdisk included then to just uncessarily confuse the heck out of cross
platform Linux users? :)

Which is exactly what the documentation tells me to do and which I thought
I did but I think I wasn't sure what numbers to enter. I figured it was a
RTFM issue somewhere. Anyway, I ran that, got presented with a slightly
different set of options but change my block length from 1 byte to 512
bytes. From there, it was smooth sailing and I'm auto-booting now.

Now onto other niceties, like video. Are there X-servers that work with
these machines? The Xfree86 project doesn't seem to list the particular
Cirrus chip that is used in these machines. Xconfigurator correctly
detects the chip as a Cirrus 54m30 and tries to run the frame buffer X
server and I get to the hashed background screen of X but then it dies.
Also the flashing white screen for a few seconds when in console mode -
any ideas for the cause of that?

I know David McWherter is working on the Cirrus driver - any ideas as to
what could be causing these problems? I know next to nothing about video
card drivers or I'd offer my assistance in tracking down what code is
causing these problems.

My thanks to those who have replied to my questions and to those who have
provided the drivers and patches that allowed me to install Linux on my
ANS with ease. Hopefully the mainstream kernel merge won't be too far
down the road!
