Well, I completed the battery ritual, and on my first attempt at a
boot from the yellowdoglinux floppy (from Scott R. Every's server) I
got the dreaded default catch from open firmware.
I figured I'd have another go, and gave the open firmware command to
reboot from the floppy and *a fuse blew on my rackmount power strip*!
My whole rack went dark! Six production servers all fell over at
once. Ugh. So I frantically re-plug everything and make sure the
paying clients are running again...
Plug the ans into a different powersource...
Try booting again off the floppy (turn and start working on my
powerbook) then out of the corner of my eye I see the screen change
and lo and behold... I'm booted into the yellowdog installer! whoo
hoo!
I go through all the prelims and start an ftp install.
I get to the point where it says:
Retrieving base/stage2.img
(for a long time)
then fails with:
"Unable to retrieve the second stage ramdisk: Failed to connect to the server."
I know that the IP setup on the box is good. I can ping and
traceroute to it from inside and outside my network.
I have the following in my install via fTP screen:
FTP site name: ftp.yellowdoglinux.com
Yellow Dog Directory: /pub/yellowdog/champion-1.0/RedHat/
The "Use non-anonymous ftp or a proxy server" is UNchecked.
Any clue what may be happening?
