Well, after 24 hours time, my ANS 700/150 is now sucessfully running
RedHat 2.2.7 from the internal hard drives.

The magic to making the IBM DFHS-S4W drives (which are the stockers on
this box, at least) work is to do the following (for those who don't
already know..):

At your quik boot prompt, set the SCSI Disconnections flag to false with a

linux ncr53c8xx=disc:n

command. Your internal drive should work correctly at this point. That
string can also be passed directly to the installer, making an
installation on the internal drive directly much much easier.

For reference, I'm presently running:

Kernel 2.2.7 + ans-lcd, cirrus video, and mace patches
ncr53c8xx.o v3.2b
