I just wanted to comment about the floppy format. I didn't have a Mac
available to me when I started getting my ANS 700 up and running.
However! OpenFirmware, for good or bad, recognizes another disk format
for the floppy: DOS (all together now: "Yuck!"). For those who are
starting out fresh and don't have access to a Mac, I just thought this
little bit of info might be useful. Here's what you do:

Format a fresh floppy on a DOS machine (or for that matter any machine
that can format a DOS filesystem on a floppy). Then copy the installer
(eg: ins.5.coff) to the floppy, but name it something within the 8.3
naming restriction of DOS (eg: "INS_5.COF"). Then pop it into the ANS
floppy drive and type:

  0> boot fd:,ins_5.cof

Note the device name "fd:,". That comma after the colon denotes to
OpenFirmware that the filesystem is DOS instead of HFS. You can do the
same for the vmlinux.coff kernel floppy too. Thanks goes to a little
note in the Apple Tech Info Library on OpenFirmware (Article Id 60285).
