ANS 500 - 200 MHz upgrade card - 32MB RAM - 4G Internal Hard Drive

I have tried Scott's installation process with both YDL and Linux PPC CD Rom.

In both cases I was unable to properly test the X windows, and finally just bypassed the video installation.

I copied the proper vmlinux image before running quik
I can boot fine from the internal disk
When booting, I get the following errors:

can't open /lib/modules/2.2.4/modules.dep

Then lots of the following warning:
Warning: /boot/System.map has an incorrect kernel version

I also notice that after it boots. the screen goes black for a second every few minutes.

If I try Startx, I get errors:

-X11TransSocketOpen: socket() failed for local

xinit: unable to connect to X Server

No video modes are accepted
Later on, in the list of devices:

(**) FBdev: Graphicsdevice ID: "Cirrus 54m30"
(**) FBdev: "AppleMultiple Scan 14 Display"

I am using a Apple Multiple Scan 14

what can I do now?

Thanks.
