I'll apologize in advance if commercial spam isn't allowed here but it
seemed to me that this group might be interested in these boxes.
I received two ANS 500/133 machines from an ISP last week. The
machines are cosmetically perfect and they were working fine when shut
down in December due to an unaddressed Y2K problem with the journaling
file system in the version of AIX they have on them.
Each machine contains:
CD ROM
Dat Drive (90m/2.0 gig I think)
two 2.0 gig seagate drives
32 meg as two 16 meg modules
I opened the drive trays and only one machine has one drive tray with
additional mounting stuff - all of the rest are empty plastic pans only.
The tape drives are probably pretty well exercised knowing the company
that owned them.
I am going to collect bids for a couple of days then sell them both
to the highest bidders. The machines are in Omaha, Nebraska and if they
must be shipped you will be responsible for the cost of Fedex Saver plus
insurance. I will not trust something bulky and plastic like these
machines to United Package Smashers. I can do COD or major credit cards.
I will guarantee against DOA but no more since I don't handle this sort
of equipment normally.
If there is anything else you need to know about the machine send me
email and I'll inspect them. I imagine I can dig up an apple keyboard
somewhere and I am in contact with the admin so I'll be able to get a
password for them.
