based on sonnett's page this card would need software in order to work:

i doubt they will support this under linux and the ANS can't run MacOS.

OS X doesn't currently work AFAIK(haven't tried DR 2) DR 1 did NOT work.
my gues is if OS X works, the blue box(classic) would as well.

I imagine a PCI IDE card that was supported by linux would work, but if you
are looking for a cheap machine, why not grab a used Powercenter(or
8500/9500 Mac). They'll run linux, can take 512MB RAM and a G3 card and
has 3 OCI slots. The only real advantage of the ANS is its massive storage
capabilities and redundancy. If you don't want that you shouldn't pay for
it...
